First week of classes!
Anyways, having my first week of class under my belt it is starting to sink in that I actually live in this city. I am taking four class which include a Spanish class, new tendencies in Spanish contemporary art, graffiti public sculpture and urban interventions, and modernisme: architecture sketched and explained. So far I am really liking all of my classes. The Spanish class is 3 1/2 hours long (yikes) but I can already tell it is going to help me a lot. Interestingly though half of my class is kids from china who are all really good at Spanish! Most of them have only been taking it for a few years but are much better than me. It is interesting trying to communicate with them though because their English is a little choppy and my Spanish is a little rusty but somehow we make it work!
My art classes are going to be very interesting I think. They are going to involve many filed trips around the city to see Gaudà buildings and public art which should be amazing. In the past decade there has been a huge push for more public sculpture and street art in the city which has really brought a new sense of community to the city. I will try and update you with fun cultural facts and photos of all the art we see!
